Hello Coh - Modern Combat fans!

At first we, the CoH - Modern Combat team, want to apologize for such a long period without information. But we haven't been inactive. The coding of the core game is almost done and our modelers are working hard.

While we are working on getting our first models in-game, we thought this might be a good time to show you some of our results. We are making good progress with the import and are looking forward to show you some moving pictures within the next weeks. Talking about the models, we are still searching for potent people, who can help us to reveal all the secrets of the objects editor. We are also always searching for more modelers and especially skinners, who help out texturing all of our models. If you are interested in helping us, contact me, or just apply in our application topic.

But coming to the interesting stuff now. After we showed you the non-doctrinal outline of CoH - Modern Combat in our last press release, we are eagerly awaiting your reactions about our new models. If things go well, we hope that we can show you some moving pictures the next time!

well who knows? smile.gif The full mod will eventually be released don't fret, but before that we have to finish skinning a lot of our models and organizing the beta testing.

But on a more possible note, is there something that particular interests you guys about the mod? Or are there any questions that you guys have on the mod?

The apache helicopter is going to be used for a strafing run, either like the henshel airplane used by the Panzer Elite or like the American P47 but with rockets instead of bombs.

very nice to see an update, good job to the mod team.
Regarding your question as to which some of us might like to see next, possibly some building shots or renders, as well as more infantry upgrade weapons.

keep it up!

Infantry will turn into our focus at a later state of the development. Currently the focus lies on parts, that are needed for gameplay. The mod would work with the current infantry, if needed, so we don't look at it right now. ...

We cannot give any date. Not even roughly. The problem is, that there are always problems coming up that we cannot plan. They just appear in the process and eventually take quite some time to solve. The only thing we can say is, that it will still take quite a while, but that we are making good progress...

ok, And have you guys also thought about giving each side officers or anything. I like in COH that the germans have officers, and they have their knight cross holder (hate those mother f'ers). I am sure you guys have already thought about it. Also you might think about the XM29 OICW as a squad upgrade. I know it is prototype but if we were to go to war with the chinese we would definately bring that baby out. just an idea.

Feel free to give more suggestions. We are still collecting ideas for the doctrines.

We have a non-doctrinal layout already. You can find it in press release 3

From what I've been looking over the Commander Tech Trees (well, for America anyway) and I have some suggestions.

Mechanized Command:
- I like the idea of improved armor on your HMMWVs, and what I'd like to add is the idea of upgrading each HMMWV individually with either a .50 cal turret, Mk-19, or TOW launcher to fit your needs (much like the British Sapper teams with PIATs, or Mine-Detectors etc but with the end results looking much like the Panzer Elite half tracks)
- I like the idea of being able to call in a Cougar or any kind of heavily armored transport (dont have much to add to that)
- Abrams seems like a must for a game like this, and to go along with it I think this Tech Tree should have an Abrams chassis rigged for repair and recovery (like the Bergetiger for Panzer Elite)
-Stryker doesnt seem necessary for an unlockable vehicle ,even with the bonuses it might have over other vehicles (assuming its the only vehicle that can capture points) because the American team should have other vehicles that it can produce that can fit the role of recon/blitzing (what ever the modern equivalent to a jeep/ motorcycle)
- Dont really know if it would fit but I enjoyed the idea of a command tank
- Even if it is self-propelled and on tracks, I really dont think Artillery should be apart of this branch

Air Superiority:
- I liked what I saw, I'd add the use of a UAV (but you guys are already on that from the model i've seen)
- I wouldnt have Delta Force or any kind of advenced infantry with this tree, the only exception i'd do would be the recruitment of a specialised LAAD team w/ a stinger or something (hence "Air Superiority")

Preemptive Strike:
- An advanced infantry training / advanced infantry is always a must for each faction, and it seems natural for Artillery to show up within the Infantry Tech Tree (assuming there is no Artillery Commander, like with Brits)
- With that note, personally, I'm always a fan of an Arty Command Chain
- This seems like a fitting place for the M109A6 Paladin (not that Stryker Howitzer complex)
- I support the idea of off-map special forces but i'd keep it to one type (as opposed to the special forces from each and every military branch)
- To go along with that the use of helicopters to insert people where ever, it almost seems like that would be infringing on/ tangling with the Air Superiority's "Air Lift"
- And no matter what the Black Hawk shouldn't be rigged to be a heavy hitter (it's a utility chopper)

Now that I look at this again I see something off, "Mechanized" command refers to a focus in land vehicles (as opposed to a real "Doctrine" like a terror doctrine etc.) What I'm saying is is that the Mech. Command is unit based, where as Preemptive Strike sounds more like a doctrine. Air Superiority fits more on the unit based side.

**As you could of guessed this was only about the American Command Tree and isnt supposed to be nit-picky over squads and upgrades etc.**

Thanks for your input.

We are currently focusing on the non-doctrinal layout (which you can find in press release 3)
The doctrinal layout from earlier press releases is out of date. We don't have any set doctrines yet anymore, but we are collecting abilities and units that we want to use to form new doctrines, once we finished the non-doctrinal part of the mod.
So, your input was quite helpful and we will add your suggestions to our existing pool of abilities and stuff for the doctrines.
